Raise Our Voice Australia Safeguarder
Raise Our Voice Australia is a non-partisan social enterprise mobilising young women and gender diverse people to transform policy and politics.
The Raise Our Voice Australia Safeguarder will prioritise safeguarding, including child safety in all our campaigns, processes, and operations. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with existing safeguarding processes, promoting best practices in safeguarding, upskilling our team, and supporting our community of young people to drive positive change.
We particularly welcome applications from people from culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who identify as First Nations or LGBTQIA+, people from migrant/ refugee backgrounds, and people with a disability.
All applicants are required to be over 18, and acquire and maintain an active Working With Vulnerable Persons check (or state equivalent)
Key tasks include:
Program Support
Provide guidance on how to make safeguarding and child safety a foundation of all initiatives run by Raise Our Voice Australia.
Help develop and implement policies and procedures that uphold safeguarding and child safety standards.
Where needed, work with team members, young people, parents, media or any other parties to assess safeguarding risk and provide support to ensure outcomes which balance the autonomy of the young person and any safeguarding risks.
Training and Upskilling
Design and deliver training sessions on best practice safeguarding for all team members, including tailored advice when required by the team.
Provide resources and ongoing support to ensure the team remains informed about current safeguarding practices.
Support for Young People
Empower young people to take an active role in advocating for their own safety and well-being when engaging with ROVA’s programs.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Help assess the effectiveness of safeguarding initiatives and recommend improvements.
Contribute to the collection and analysis of feedback from young people to enhance our programs.
Collaboration and Outreach
Work with other organisations and stakeholders to share knowledge and resources related to child safeguarding.
Participate in community events and outreach activities to raise awareness about child safety issues.
Response
In the event of a safeguarding issue, be the first responder and work with the Executive Team to take any action as outlined in the safeguarding policy.
What we are looking for:
Passion for gender equity and/ or public decision making
Previous experience leading child protection or safeguarding work
Excellent relationship building and management skills
Excellent communication skills
Experience working with young people
Ability to work with minimal supervision
