Head of Innovation
Raise Our Voice Australia is a non-partisan social enterprise mobilising young women and gender diverse people to transform policy and politics.
The Head of Innovation is responsible for the research and development of our new fellowship program for young women and gender-diverse people (aged 18-33) in Melbourne.
The successful applicant will lead the background work investigating best practices, meeting with peer organisations, and designing the fellowship. Your work will ensure the program is sustainable, adds value to the civic engagement space, and effective. This is a voluntary position.
We particularly welcome applications from people from culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who identify as First Nations or LGBTQIA+, people from migrant/ refugee backgrounds, and people with a disability.
All applicants are required to be over 18, and acquire and maintain an active Working With Vulnerable Persons check (or state equivalent)
Key tasks include:
Desktop Research & Benchmarking
Conduct desktop research into existing civics and leadership fellowships in Australia and overseas to identify gaps and opportunities.
Map the current landscape of training programs for young people in Australia to ensure our fellowship offers a unique value proposition and adds meaningfully to this ecosystem.
Research trends in adult learning and political education to ensure our model reflects best practice.
Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach
Identify and meet with other organisations running training programs to learn from their successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
Facilitate small focus groups or interviews with our target demographic (young women and gender diverse people aged 18-33) to ensure the fellowship meets their needs, overcomes barriers to civic engagement, and supports their areas of interest.
Identify potential speakers and presenters.
Model Exploration & Design
Explore and evaluate different methods of delivery, such as intensive residencies, weekly evening workshops, or completely digital/hybrid formats.
Research financial models to ensure accessibility and sustainability.
Reporting & Internal Strategy
Synthesise research into a report that outlines the recommended structure and curriculum pillars, and proposed sessions.
Work closely with ROVA’s leadership team to ensure the fellowship model aligns with ROVA's organisational strategy and theory of change.
What we are looking for:
Someone who is passionate about gender equity and/ or public decision making
Someone who has previously conducted strategic research
Proven ability to engage effectively with professional stakeholders and peer organisations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to drive a research project forward
An understanding of the Australian political system and the barriers facing young diverse people within it
