Head of People
Raise Our Voice Australia is a non-partisan social enterprise mobilising young women and gender diverse people to transform policy and politics.
The Head of People is responsible for supporting Raise Our Voice Australia’s volunteer workforce including recruitment, the volunteer lifecycle, driving positive culture and providing ongoing support to our volunteer team. The Head of People works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure Raise Our Voice Australia has a strong volunteer proposition and that volunteers have a good experience while they’re with the organisation.
The Head of People will oversee the People Support Manager, and the Head of Recruitment.

Time commitment: 5 hours a week | voluntary

Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
Develop and Implement HR Strategies: Create and execute human resources strategies that align with Raise Our Voice Australia's mission and goals.
Workforce Planning: Plan and forecast staffing needs, ensuring Raise Our Voice Australia has the people to meet its objectives.
Policy Development: Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards and drive Raise Our Voice Australia’s values.
Oversee Volunteer management
Recruitment and Retention: Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for volunteers. Develop strategies to retain volunteers and keep them engaged.
Volunteer Training and Development: Work with the CEO and Deputy CEO to design and implement training programs to ensure volunteers have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
Volunteer Support: Provide ongoing support to volunteers, including conflict resolution, performance feedback, and recognition programs.
Employee Relations: Manage relationships between the ROVA and its volunteers including handling issues such as grievances, disputes, and performance management.
Culture Building: Lead the development of a positive organisational culture that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and volunteer satisfaction.
Feedback and Evaluation: Implement systems for feedback and evaluation of volunteers, supporting their development and recognising their contributions.
Performance Management
Goal Setting and Monitoring: Set performance goals and metrics for the HR department and volunteers, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
Communication and Collaboration
Internal Communication: Ensure effective communication between volunteers, staff, and leadership, fostering a transparent and inclusive environment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, community partners, and donors.
Legal and Ethical Responsibilities
Legal Compliance: Ensure the ROVA’s HR practices comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Ethical Standards: Uphold high ethical standards in all HR and volunteer management activities.
